When I was a rambunctious little girl growing up in London, I knew there was something different about me.  Quirky some would say.  Talking to ghosts and spirits at the age of seven was a little too much for my mom to handle, not to mention jumping out of windows and hanging upside down from the monkey bars in our Garden.   To calm my anxious and curious young self, my mom and dad sent me to learn meditation and yoga techniques.

Throughout my early years of healing and meditation practices, I was fortunate to “access” these skills and techniques to overcome so many things in my life.

As a young Stockbroker in London working under the stresses of high-end deals, and later being told from three separate surgeons in my mid 20’s I would never be able to walk again due to a curvature in my spine collapsing and having no feeling or sensations in my left heel, I just wasn’t going to settle for stress, steel rods and paralysis the rest of my life.  So, I packed up, traveled and lived around different countries in the world learning various yoga, meditation, martial arts, and many other techniques to heal myself.

After my ten years of travel, I settled in Miami. It was at that time I no longer wished to just practice many of the healing and meditative teachings, that I had acquired while living in India, Brazil, and Central America.

I wanted to share those practices.  So, I began teaching Yoga.  My classes were a hit.  I was humbled and ever so grateful, but I also began to notice a trend with my students.   Many were overcoming injuries, long time health issues, or surgery.  This is where I took a deeper dive into learning much about the body, the mind, and an overall healing strategy with my unique Gentle Therapeutics Yoga techniques.

I must say, those techniques came in handy. Throughout the summer of 2019 I kept falling backward.  I lost my balance often.  I didn’t think much of it, and thought perhaps I was going through menopause.  Unfortunately, my imbalance led to a terrible fall where I broke my elbow into 3 places which caused a trauma to the right side of my body.  I’m right-handed, not good.  Once again, I’m told that I will never have full use of my right arm and that I will not be able to do hand stands, chaturangas, downward dogs, and so many other moves.

Needless to say, I’ve had my health challenges.  The last one was the biggest one of all though.  After having the sensation of going blind one evening, I told one of my students what was happening.  She recommended an ophthalmologist friend to see me.  After a quick diagnosis and at the suggestion of getting an MRI for further analysis, I was told that I had an Acoustic Neuroma tumor in my brain.  It was the size of a golf ball and growing.

If you or anyone you know is seeking a Holistic Platform toward recovery, this is what we want to offer to you. A place where the mind, body, and soul can be healed along the way. Giving you a better understanding of how your mind and body are connected. A better way to nourish and feed the structure that keeps our “machines” running. A better mindset on overcoming insurmountable circumstances. A richer and more-fulfilled life by being able to move or restore certain body parts that are crying out to be healed. A chance to simply get out of bed, be grateful for the start of a new day and a new you.

This is why I wanted to bring Helping Hands + Hearts to you.  As I mentioned earlier, I was lucky and blessed to have the support of many people around me who cared. I had many who came with me to my doctor’s visits and took notes, brought me to my appointments, delivered food to my home, helped walk me through and navigate our difficult health care system, and were there every step of the way for my recovery. And, without having someone there to support my recovery, who knows how long it would have been before I felt capable of managing my day. Morning steps became walks, meditation, pep talks, healing tools and techniques, and all that could make me whole again.

Helping Hands + Hearts will get you ready with all you need to know, consider, or understand before, during, and after your healing process. We can’t wait to lend you a helping hand with a warm heart.
